Why Nina Turner Lost
Nina Turner and Shontel Brown battled it out in the Democratic Primary for the Ohio Special election. Nina Turner lost and was defeated by the establishment candidate Shontel Brown I will explain why in this article today.
1. Nina Turner Bashing Biden
Nina Turner bashed Biden multiple times and once compared to picking between Biden and Trump two piles of shit. When asked if he voted for Biden she said it was a private matter while Shontel Brown said she voted for Biden. The Democratic base has a cultish view on Biden and it is not a good idea to bash Biden right now. He has over a 90% approval rating with Democrats so you cannot attack him or have a history of attacking him and win a democratic primary.
All the leftists who hate Biden are not in the Democratic base so you cannot them to show up since they are independents who cannot vote in Democratic primaries.
2. Having Popular But Unbelievable Policies.
Nina Turner supports a Green New Deal, Medicare for All, and Tuition-free college. While many of these policies are popular voters were highly skeptical about how these policies can be paid for and how to get them passed through Congress. If you don’t explain how to pay for them and how to pass them then people won’ believe it and won’t for you.
That is one of the several reasons why Bernie lost in 2020 and Jeremy Corbyn in 2019. If a candidate is going to win they have to have a vision that people are will willing to buy into. If not then that candidate will lose. With Bernie, Jeremy Corbyn, and Nina Turner that wasn’t the case.
3. The Squad.
Trust in the Squad is at an all-time low. They didn’t use their leverage to get some of their goals passed like $15 an hour, a vote on Medicare for All etc. They have the power to block all-partisan bills since the house majority is so narrow. There is 220 Democrats in the House and 218 are needed for a majority.
The Squad has refused to use their leverage as Joe Manchin does and they never state or explain an alternative strategy to get things done they just expect you to believe them.
It works for the David Pakman and Emma Vigeland-type progressives but doesn’t work for the rest of the progressive base. They expect results and if they don’t get it then they will abandon them. So as a result people don’t trust progressive politicians anymore and progressives won’t show up for them.
Good leadership needs to be backed by victories and a plan on how to win victories as well as good decision making and communication skills. If that doesn’t happen then your followers will turn on you. This is what happened with Admiral Holdo from Star Wars a.k.a the Purple-Haired Space Karen.
That is the problem with the Squad they are toxic leaders and are not qualified to lead the progressive movement and the reasons why are similar to Admiral Holdo. Poe Dameron is Jimmy Dore and Holdo is the Squad bad analogy but you get the idea.
