What UK Labor Party should do to Win

Today I am going to write what the UK Labor Party should do to win. Here is a list of things that need to happen in order for Labor to Win.

1. Keir Starmer Needs to Step Down

There is just no other choice. Keir Starmer is boring and uncharismatic. Also he engineered the disastrous Brexit policy of calling another referendum which was a huge insult for the people in anti Brexit Red Wall constituencies where Labor lost.

The UK Labor Party needs a charismatic and good looking person running and Keir Starmer is neither of these things. Here is a list of the best options for the job the top candidates in my mind are Caroline Flint who lost her seat but with no fault of her own, and Mary Creagh who called Corbyn a narcissist which may help gain back voters because Corbyn is hated still and could send the message Corbynism is over, and Lisa Nandy a British MP who will not alienate Corbynites and Blairites and is moderate, charismatic and young.

If Labor is going to win their needs to be excitement in supporting them and their leader so their has to be someone charismatic and young preferably the former.

2. Campaign on Moving Past Brexit.

Labors policy on Brexit should be the people has made their choice lets make a trade deal with the UK and then move on. In fact the UK Labor Party should run on a slogan called Lets Move On.

That is only if Brexit is still relevant in the national conversation. If it is not then just ignore it because people will be tired of it by then and if asked again about Brexit just repeat the same position as in 2017 on Brexit of the Labor Party.

3. Promise another Referendum on Scottish Independence

The UK Labor Party is going to need to win Scottish seats back in Parliament in order to win the next election so they are going to have policies that appeal to Scottish voters.

The UK Labor Party should promise another referendum on Scottish independence and unlike with the Brexit actually except the results of the referendum.

To avoid alienating their Unionist Base in Scotland promise if the voters chose independence Queen Elizabeth II will still be Scotland’s Queen and their will be Governor General appointed by the Queen to become Head of State while the Prime Minster becomes Head of Government.

That should help the UK Labor Party win back at least five or six constituencies in Scotland.

4. Promise Proportional Representation

You may be asking what why wouldn’t that weaken the Labor Party. I actually it would help the Labor Party gain voters from the Liberal Democrats, SNP and Greens who want proportional representation and are sick and tired of having their parties win far less seats then the votes they actually got.

Promising Proportional Representation will also settle the party infighting because their can be an armistice between the Blairites and the Corbynites. The agreement is in return for stopping the infighting Proportional Representation will be implemented so the Corbynites can leave and form their party without worrying about splitting the vote. Labor has a problem with infighting and if a center left politician wins then the socialists will whine about it. If a socialist wins then a Blairites will whine about it.

Infighting was so bad that 197–40 voted to remove Corbyn and a new leadership election was called. So the vast majority of the Labor MPs didn’t want Corbyn to win. Which is one of the many reasons why Corbyn lost the 2019 because they were actively trying to sabotage Labors chances of winning in 2017 and 2019. The UK Labor Party leader needs the support of his fellow MPs in order to win. So that way the Corbynites can leave to form their own party called the Socialist Party and then the Blairites can run the Labor Party.

My preferred form of Proportional Representation is the system used by the Scottish and Welsh Parliaments. So their would be 650 seats half of these seats will come from regional party lists and the other half will come from constituencies only their would be 325 instead of 650.

I would have 325 constituencies and 325 seats from regional party lists selected by party MPs or leadership and the voted on by members of the party. Party list seats will be allocated to make sure parties gain seats that are proportional to the results.

Of coarse if Scotland’s leaves the UK their would be 600 seats in Parliament instead of 650 since Scotland left.

5. Get Rid of Some of Their Socialist Policies so it is more Believable.

While many of UK Labors policies were popular people didn’t believe it could be paid for so the UK Labor Party is going have to drop some of their policies. Here are some I would keep.

  1. Green Industrial Revolution
  2. Free Tuition College
  3. Nationalizing Railways
  4. Free childcare

Things I would get rid of.

  1. Free Dental Care
  2. Free Bus travel for people under 25
  3. Everything else that involves free stuff.

That way Labors policies are more believable and easier to swallow and people can actually believe in Labor and can believe Labor can actually pay for these things.

6. Fire Anyone who Served in the Shadow Cabinet Before 2019.

https://yougov.co.uk/topics/politics/explore/public_figure/Emily_Thornberry

Okay first of all most of Labors Shadow Cabinet is despised by the public. Emily Thornberry once said to a colleague ‘’my voters are not as stupid as yours’’. Emily Thornberry she has an 8% approval rating, Ed Miliband has a 24% approval rating. Jeremy Corbyn had a 21% approval rating on election night in 2019.

Replace these people with fresh faces from the Midlands or other parts of England other then London. The message it should send is that Labor has changed and is no longer run by out of touch Londoners.

7. Drop the SJW stuff

Another reason why Labor keeps losing is that it has gone to woke. One Labor MP called the old English flag racist for some reason. They proposed in 2019 in their manifesto forming cabinet position called Secretary of Woman and Equalities which just appeared as out of touch and woke to many people especially people in the West Midlands who are socially conservative.

They need to be moderate on Social Issues to appeal to moderates and people who are economically left leaning and socially conservative. Labor should still be for gay marriage and equal rights for woman. But they should not promote the bullshit Hollywood version of feminism and drop the Secretary of Woman and Equalities stuff and drop the talks of the English flag being racist.

Also never ever ever call people who vote for Brexit ignorant, racist or anything like that and instead say they understand their pain and respect their vote and will work to make the UK a better place.

8. Reform how it selects its Leaders.

Also introduce a new that from now on Labor MPs select the party leader and each candidate for a party nomination in a constituency is elected by primaries similar to how the US elects their party nominees for house of representatives. This will prevent another Corbyn from rising to power in the future. This is how the Tories select their leader.

9. Attack the Tories in a Better Way.

The most common attacks against the Tories is that they want to abolish or privatize the NHS. They are not going to do that because they know it will be political suicide for them. Stop the fear mongering because no one buys it anymore. If you cry wolf multiple times and their is no wolf then people will stop believing you.

The Tories cannot privatize the NHS because it is under local trusts which is not under the authority of Westminster but local governments. This was supposed to prevent the Tories from privatizing the NHS.

Instead they should attack the Tories by accusing them of Gerrymandering because the new maps actually help give the Tories ten extra seats and costs Labor nine.

Also attack Boris Johnson handling of the pandemic and portray him as an incompetent leader and fat baffoon and promise to be a more competent then under the Tory Government

The top three criticisms and attacks on Boris Johnson should be

  1. Gerrymandering
  2. Boris Handling of the Pandemic
  3. Boris is Incompetent

Also if Labor is going to win they need to go on the offense. If the Tories attacks Labor then Labor should go on the offensive instead of defending themselves which if you spend too much time defending then people will be reminded of a scandal or controversy and attack against you. A good offense is a good defense in politics.

10. Handle its Antisemitism

Antisemitism is a huge problem in the Labor Party which is why in order to quash it Labor needs have a no tolerance position of it that means any Labor MP who says anything anti semitic needs to be removed from the Shadow Cabinet and expelled from the Labor Party. I am sorry it may be harsh but it is the only way to quash it because it.

11. Make an Agreement with the Liberal Democrats and Greens.

A problem that the Labor party has is that the Liberal Democrats keep vote splitting the vote. Though that still doesn’t take away responsibility from Labor the Liberal Democrats have spoiled the results for Labor from many marginal seats so their has to be an agreement that in return for.

  1. Proportional Representation (described in 4.)
  2. Labor nor the Greens will not run in seats where the Lib Democrats are in second place and are currently occupied by the Tories or SNP.

4. In return Liberal Democrats will agree not to run in marginal seats between Conservative and Labor, Liberal Democrats and Labor or Labor and SNP

This is essential for Labor to win because First Past the Post can result in the spoiler effect and their is more strong left wing parties then right wing so the left needs to consolidate support in order to win.

That was similar to how the moderates like Pete Buttigeig a.k.a Mayor Butts and Shakey Amy and consolidated behind Biden before Super Tuesday. Read this if you are interested. The Liberal Democrats and Greens should consolidate behind Labor in order for the Tories to be defeated.

Conclusion

If Labor doesn’t do any of these things then they will lose the next election and I am speaking as an American who really doesn’t want the Tories to win. That is all I have for today I hope you enjoy your article and please retweet comment or applaud this article. Also I would like to give thanks to Caroline Flint a Labor MP who lost her seat and help me learn about this situation with Labor I also do follow her on Twitter and I would like you to follow these accounts. I taken out a part of promising a second Brexit Referendum as part of an electoral pact. I realized that it will harm Labor in West Midlands seats so I taken it out.
