Georgia Voting Reforms Passed by Republican Legislature.

Today I am going to write about the Georgia election voting reform bill. In the Georgia State Legislatures, a bill has passed that has passed a series of voting reforms. Here are some of the contents of the bill

Georgia Governor Brian Kemp signs Voting Bill into Law.
  • The bill forbids poll workers from giving away food or drink to voters.
  • The bill expands Saturday and Sunday voting from one weekend to two. Though they proposed to limit early voting on weekends but due to criticism and backlash they added that provision
  • Limits the use of ballot drop-off locations.
  • Introduces new voter I.D laws.

This bill is very controversial because it makes it more difficult to vote and Democrats tend to benefit when it is easier to vote and when there is a higher turnout while Republicans benefit from making it difficult to vote and lower turnout.

This is why this bill is very partisan and is about power which is why if the bill benefited the Dems the Republicans will be against it and use the same arguments against the bill that the Democrats use and the Dems will use the same arguments defending the bill as the Republicans.

The Democrats oppose this bill and Biden has made a speech attacking the bill and Black Lives Matter has protested this bill in front of the Georgia State House.

Right now there is a real problem with our voting system. In Blue states like California, you don’t need an I.D all you need to do is walk in to vote no I.D or anything like that.

If you are in a Red State you do need an I.D and if you live in a Democratic area of the state then well expect to wait in line for hours because the Republicans like to have fewer polling stations in areas where there are more democrats to make sure they always win. In Kentucky, people have to camp out to vote and wait for hours to vote.

In most countries, their is one polling place for every 400–700 people but in Louisville Kentucky a Democratic area where there are 766,000 people their was only one polling station in all of the city.

This altering rules to favor a political party has got to stop and it is bad for democracy.

I am also not against voter I.D. France has voter I.D and they have no problems with voter suppression or fraud as long as there is no fee to obtain an I.D which is a poll tax and unconstitutional because it violates the 24th amendment.

I would implement a one-polling place for every seven hundred people and make it federally mandatory. Require Voter I.D which can be obtained free of charge. Two weeks of early voting, and automatic voter registration. I would also mail ballots to registered voters have them fill the ballots at home and then have them drop their ballot at a polling place to reduce lines.

Also if you are wondering why I haven't been writing much lately it is because I had lots of stuff to deal with and I have been dealing with homework and anxiety and depression which just prevented me from writing articles though I am back now so that is good.
